YouTuber presents free 3D print model for iPhone standby mode

YouTuber Scott Yu-Jan has created a remarkable 3D-printed stand for the iPhone that shows off standby mode to its best advantage.

Yu-Jan, inspired by the iPhone’s standby mode, which displays widgets and clocks when charged horizontally, decided to design a special charging stand. In collaboration with Overwork, a design was created that was inspired by the iconic DN 40 alarm clock by renowned designer Dieter Rams.

The first prototype already integrated a MagSafe charger for the iPhone and had a mechanism that released the device by pressing on the side. However, Yu-Jan recognised potential for improvement and refined the design in several iterations.

The final version of the stand also includes a wireless charger for AirPods at the back. To improve user-friendliness, non-slip feet and a large eject button were also added to make it easier to remove the iPhone.

Interested makers can download the 3D printed model free of charge from the Makerworld platform and rebuild it.
