Xolo presents Xube²: Progress in volumetric 3D printing technology

Berlin-based company Xolo has unveiled the Xube², a further development of its volumetric 3D printer. The new model builds on the Xolography technology introduced in 2021 and promises improvements in precision and flexibility.

The Xolography method enables a layer-free printing process in which objects are created by projecting light of two wavelengths into a resin. This allows complex structures to be produced quickly and with high precision. The Xube² now expands the possibilities of this technology.

One major innovation is the improved flexibility of the build space. The printer now supports a quick change between different cells, allowing the size to be adapted to different project requirements. Up to a maximum volume of 30x50x80 mm³.

The optical resolution has also been optimised. The Xube² offers modular projection objectives with resolutions of 15, 10 or 5 µm in the x-y plane, depending on the selected configuration. This enables the production of particularly filigree structures.

Support for 375 nm and 405 nm light layer modules extends the range of compatible materials. The printer can process both current and future photoinitiators, which increases its range of applications.

Another new feature is the precise environmental control. Temperature control enables fine tuning of the properties of photoinitiators and polymers – particularly important for experiments with living cells or sensitive materials.

The completely revised software now offers comprehensive control over the printing process. Parameters can be adjusted down to voxel level, allowing for maximum customisation.

The modular and open design of the Xube² not only facilitates maintenance, but also enables the integration of customised sensors and devices. This makes the printer particularly adaptable for various research applications.
