Ultimaker and University of Illinois Team Up for 3D Printing Course

3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker and the University of Illinois have collaborated with online education platform Coursera to offer a series of 3D printing courses. These global courses should lead to a greater adoption of 3D printing among students.

The curriculum will include an overview of 3D Printing and its potential, examination of 3D Printing applications across industries, in-depth exploration of 3D design software and a course on how 3D printers are made and how they operate.

Moreover, Ultimaker has equipped the University’s MakerLab with 17 of their 3D printers to give their students the possibility of gaining hands on experience with the new technology.

Siert Wijnia, CTO and founder of Ultimaker, said: “Ultimaker’s vision is to make 3D printing accessible to all and has been reflected in our open source printers and community inspired collaborations. With Coursera and the Illinois MakerLab, we are helping to optimise 3D printing courses that are available to everyone interested in digital making with our hands-on knowledge of 3D printing.”
