TriAlCo and FEHRMANN conclude license agreement for the production of AlMgty

A promising aluminum alloy called AlMgty is coming to the North American market thanks to a cooperation between the companies TriAlCo and FEHRMANN. The high-tech alloy was developed by FEHRMANN and is intended to set new standards, particularly in lightweight construction.

As the company bosses explained at the signing of the contract, TriAlCo will produce and distribute the AlMgty alloy in North America in future. Processes such as casting, extrusion or additive manufacturing are possible.

According to the information provided, AlMgty is characterized by an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. The alloy can be formed very well without losing dimensional stability. Components can therefore be 20 to 30 percent lighter than with standard aluminum while maintaining comparable stability.

AlMgty is also corrosion-resistant and can be colour-anodized for high-quality surfaces. Due to its properties, the alloy appears predestined for lightweight construction in the automotive and aviation industries.

According to FEHRMANN, AlMgty scores points both economically and ecologically. The CO2-neutral production via hydropower and the possibility of slimmer components promise cost savings.

For TriAlCo, the cooperation means being able to offer customers access to future-oriented materials, the TriAlCo boss emphasized. And FEHRMANN sees the collaboration as confirmation of its own innovative ability in alloy design.
