Silicone 3D printing meets design: the creation of the COMETE bag in “Emily in Paris”

In the latest season of the Netflix series “Emily in Paris”, a special accessory has caused quite a stir: the COMETE bag, which can be seen on the arm of the main character Lily Collins in the fifth episode of the fourth season. This extraordinary accessory is the result of a collaboration between designer Laura Deweilde and engineer Thomas Batigne. It combines traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art silicone 3D printing technology and represents a fascinating interface between fashion and industrial innovation.

The process of creating the COMETE bag shows how the interplay of creativity and technology opens up new avenues in the fashion world. Thanks to Lynxter’s expertise in silicone 3D printing, in particular through the use of the S300X – LIQ21 | LIQ11, a design that combines both organic and futuristic elements has been realized. The 3D printed flowers that adorn the design are made of silicone and grape anthocyanins, giving the bag its unique character. These flowers, inspired by the shapes of the universe, were precisely printed on the S300X and then integrated into the leather design, which is reminiscent of the lines of a spaceship.

“For this new creation, the idea was to work on more organic forms with floral inspiration. Thinking back to a floral pattern that I had already modeled, I wanted to go further in terms of creativity and experimentation. By collaborating with Thomas, we were able to transform this exciting and innovative project. With Lynxter, merging organic design with a purer and more architectural form was a beautiful challenge successfully met for this creation, with, notably, a post-search and a studied assembly of this new bag”, said Laura Deweilde, founder & designer of Incxnnue.

The COMETE bag, carefully selected by the show’s costume designer, Marilyn Fitoussi, reflects the new, more subtle and sensual style that characterizes the fourth season of “Emily in Paris”. Fitoussi emphasizes that she chooses brands not for their iconic status, but for the story they tell and how they contribute to character development. The decision to include the COMETE bag in the series highlights the originality of silicone 3D printing and the ability of this technology to give a fashion item a unique soul.

This project is an example of how modern manufacturing techniques and creative design methods can work together to create products that are both aesthetically and technologically groundbreaking.
