Prusa expands 3D printing portfolio: New colour mixing system for SLA resins presented

The Czech 3D printer manufacturer Prusa Research has launched a colour mixing system for SLA resins. The Prusament Resin Model Color Kit enables users to mix almost any desired colour for 3D prints.

The kit is based on the CMYK colour model and contains five basic colours: cyan, magenta, yellow, black and white. By combining these colours, a wide range of shades can be created. The resins are from the Prusament Resin Model line.

In addition to the resins, the set also contains accessories for precise mixing: syringes, pipettes and beakers. A sample book containing 44 colour recipes is included for easy colour matching. Prusa also provides an online calculator that calculates the exact mixing ratios for the desired colours and quantities.

In contrast to systems with colourless resins and separate pigments, Prusa’s approach offers several advantages. The base colours can also be used individually, and mixing whole resins is less error-prone than the precise dosing of pigments.

Prusa emphasises the safety of the resins used. They contain no hazardous chemicals such as bisphenol A or TPO, which makes them particularly suitable for home use. The complete kit with 3kg of resin and accessories costs 159 euros (incl. VAT). Individual 1kg bottles of Prusament modelling resins are available for €69. Users can also purchase just the mixing accessories for 19.90 euros.
