Nothing enables 3D printing of accessories for the CMF Phone 1

Smartphone manufacturer Nothing is taking an unusual approach with its new budget model CMF Phone 1. The company is providing 3D print files that users can use to create their own accessories for the device.

In a blog post, Nothing published .stl and .stp files for the removable back cover of the CMF Phone 1, which owners of the smartphone can use to print their own covers or other accessories.

Rob Godwin, Community Manager at Nothing, explains: “We’ve put together detailed documentation describing the physical dimensions of the CMF by Nothing product. This gives you everything you need to get started.”

Nothing suggests various accessory ideas, including camera grips, card holders or lens attachments. The company is open to the production of particularly successful user designs.

What is technically interesting is that the Phone 1 uses M2 screws, a common standard for electronic devices. This facilitates replacement and modification.
