New market report analyses the use of 3D printing in the aviation industry

VoxelMatters, an additive manufacturing market research company, announces a comprehensive report on the use of 3D printing in the aerospace industry. The report, due to be published on 29 October 2024, provides detailed insights into the use of additive manufacturing technologies in the civil and military aerospace sector.

The study examines the use of metal, polymer and technical ceramic 3D printing technologies in the aerospace industry. It covers hardware, materials and services as well as the in-house production of 3D printed parts by end users. The report presents current market sizes and 10-year forecasts for demand and revenues.

In this study, VoxelMatters analyses data on AM parts production by vertical end-user companies in aerospace manufacturing. This includes OEMs, first and second tier suppliers and contract manufacturers. The information is based on a survey and review of 237 aerospace companies that use additive manufacturing for in-house production of prototypes, tooling and end-use parts.

The report highlights specific trends and business potential of AM adoption in six different aerospace sub-sectors: civil and military aerospace, civil and military space, and civil and military unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

According to VoxelMatters, the aerospace industry is a major user of additive manufacturing technologies, particularly for prototyping, tooling and the production of final parts. The report is intended to support companies in analysing and developing the market and to provide guidance for new entrants and investors.

The study is based on data from 1,460 core operators of additive manufacturing systems for polymers/composites, metals and technical ceramics. In total, almost 1,697 companies were covered, including end users. The report contains over 200 charts and data tables to analyse the use of AM in the aerospace industry in detail.
