MachbarMobil: Mobile 3D printing technologies bring the future to the Lichtenfels region

Machbar e.V. in Lichtenfels is expanding its range of future technologies with the new makerspace on four wheels, the MachbarMobil. The association is giving both big and small inventors access to 3D printing, robotics and laser cutting and plans to expand this successful concept to other facilities in the region.

The MachbarMobil, a minivan equipped with technology, was donated by the HZG Group and wrapped in the association’s colors. Dr. Florian Bechmann, second chairman of Machbar e.V., says: “Our offers are well received, the figures speak for themselves. It’s time for us to expand our radius and bring our educational approach to future technologies to people in the region. That’s exactly what the MachbarMobil does.”

“We have received a lot of valuable feedback and the didactic framework is in place. In addition to schools, we have held initial workshops in other associations and companies. We want to establish a popular offering with the MachbarMobil and reach all relevant areas of society. With us, digital and additive technologies can be experienced,” says Matthias Hofmann.

In the test phase so far, the MachbarMobil has already taken part in around 50 events and reached over 1,000 interested people. The positive feedback from the workshops so far has strengthened the team’s resolve to make digital and additive manufacturing technologies more widely accessible.

Christian Steinhage, Managing Director of naddcon GmbH, says: “I had the pleasure of accompanying Matthias Hofmann on a school visit in the MachbarMobil. The young people were enthusiastic about the technology and really got involved. A great project with a lighthouse character, which we as a professional application center for 3D printing stand behind 100 percent.”

In addition to the technical offerings, financing also plays an important role. Machbar e.V. is dependent on support from sponsors in order to be able to continue operating the MachbarMobil. The first sponsors, such as naddcon GmbH and Microfol, have already agreed to support the project.

Peter Hofmann, Managing Director of Microfol, says: “With the Machbar, we are supporting access to new technologies for all interested parties because we are connected to the people behind it and the region.”

The MachbarMobil is therefore an innovative solution for bringing pioneering technologies directly to where they are used. With this approach, Machbar e.V. makes a significant contribution to the promotion of technical skills and the networking of interested parties in the Lichtenfels region.
