Australian caravan manufacturer ZoneRV has acquired Australia’s largest 3D printer with the help of $1.16 million in funding. The company said it was able to expand production and create 99 new jobs.
The funding came as part of the regional government’s Made in Queensland program. ZoneRV now uses the 3D printer to produce parts of the caravan structure. It also invested in a 3D scanner, milling machines and other equipment.
According to ZoneRV Director David Biggar, the funding was critical in enabling the company to implement its planned expansion steps. In total, he said, the workforce has increased to more than 230.
The “Made in Queensland” program specifically supports regional manufacturing with grants. According to the government, over 5,400 jobs have been created in the past five years and $100 million in private investment has been generated.
