Knust-Godwin relies on recycled metal powders from Continuum Powders

Sustainability and efficiency are becoming increasingly important in the manufacturing industry. In this context, Knust-Godwin, a company known for its precision manufacturing, has made a strategic decision: In future, it will rely on recycled metal powders from the supplier Continuum Powders to meet the requirements of a major customer in the oil and gas industry.

The need arose when a major customer of Knust-Godwin was faced with a significant amount of discarded Ni718 components. These highly specialized nickel alloys, which are used in demanding applications, require a cost-effective and sustainable solution for recycling. After a comprehensive market analysis, Knust-Godwin selected Continuum Powders, whose recycled metal powders met the project’s stringent requirements.

“Continuum is doing things that no other metal powders company can currently do when it comes to complete lifecycle management of consumable metal parts,” stated Rob Higby, chief executive officer of Continuum Powders. “With the incredible advancements we’ve made in converting worn parts into new metal powders, it no longer makes sense to simply scrap those parts and purchase metal powders made from virgin metals.”

Continuum Powders’ key advantage lies in its proprietary Greyhound M2P platform, which enables a one-step recycling process. With this process, Knust-Godwin was able to not only efficiently recycle the end-of-life parts, but also manufacture new parts using the Renishaw RenAM500Q 3D printer.
