Fugo Precision 3D introduces innovative centrifugal 3D printing system

Fugo Precision 3D has unveiled an innovative stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing system at the RAPID + TCT trade fair in Los Angeles. The Fugo Model A utilises a patented centrifugal process which, according to the manufacturer, offers several advantages over conventional SLA printers.

The system promises a “layerless” printing technique with an accuracy of less than 30 microns. Fugo claims that the printing speed is up to ten times faster than with traditional SLA printers. Another unique selling point is the integration of several post-processing steps in one device: printing, washing, drying and post-curing are carried out in a single operation.

The centrifugal technology prints objects in a cylindrical build chamber from the wall to the centre of the container at speeds of up to 1 mm per minute. After printing, washing, drying and post-curing processes can be carried out in the same module.

Bryan Allred, founder of Fugo 3D, emphasises: “Our patented centrifugal printing technology is not just an improvement on existing systems, but a completely new approach to the possibilities of 3D printing.”

CTO Sasha Shkolnik adds: “Since the introduction of SLA and DLP technology, the biggest problem with these printers has been the need to mechanically apply the extremely thin layers. With the Fugo Model A, we have solved this problem as our technology does not use any mechanical means to create layers during printing.”

With the Model A, Fugo Precision 3D is initially targeting high-volume manufacturers for whom 3D printing is already an essential part of their production lines. The system is said to be compatible with a wide range of photopolymers.

The first commercial production machines are scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2025. Reservations for the Fugo Model A are already being taken.
