Elkem presents silicone solutions for 3D printing at Formnext 2023

At Formnext 2023 in Frankfurt, the top event for industrial 3D printing, Elkem is attracting attention. The company is showcasing its extensive portfolio of silicone solutions for 3D printing.

A particular highlight is the AMSil & AMSil SILBIONE range. This R&D 100 Award-winning technology enables the production of functional parts from true 100% silicone elastomers through additive manufacturing, using LDM technology. The products in this series are divided into two categories: The AMSil 20000 series is aimed at industrial applications, including aerospace, automotive and electronics. Here, the focus is on the integration of silicones into the digital, networked area of manufacturing. The second category, the AMSil Silbione 24000 series, focuses on medical applications. Here, the focus is on improving the quality of life of the elderly population. Here, Elkem combines the performance, durability and biocompatibility of silicones with the advantages of 3D printing.

Specific formulations ensure broad applicability of the products. They can now be used in food applications as well as in medical and industrial applications. In addition, the combination of different grades of silicone opens up completely new possibilities for enhancing the performance of products through 3D printing.

The potential of 3D printing is also demonstrated by the silicone parts with complex shapes and specific geometries that Elkem is presenting. Printed with the AMSil 92100 series and the other series mentioned, these parts illustrate what is already possible in the world of 3D printing today.
