Crystal Maker: Free online tool generates 3D models of crystal structures for 3D printing

A new 3D modelling tool called Crystal Maker enables the creation of unique crystal structures for 3D printing. The online generator developed by the maker Rushberg creates detailed 3D models of crystals.

Crystal Maker works with three crystal layers whose parameters can be individually customised. Users can influence numerous aspects of the crystals, including height, number of faces and other geometric properties. Operation is intuitive: after each parameter adjustment, a new model is generated at the touch of a button.

The 3D models created resemble natural crystal formations, in which several crystals grow from a central point. Various materials are recommended for realising the models in 3D printing. PETG filament can achieve impressive results due to its transparency and lustre.

The generated models can be easily imported into common slicer programmes and prepared for 3D printing. It should be noted that, depending on the complexity of the model, support structures may be required to ensure an optimal printing result.

The web tool is available free of charge here.
