BASF spins off 3D printing division: Forward AM Technologies becomes an independent company

BASF has spun off its additive manufacturing division Forward AM. The new company, Forward AM Technologies, will continue to operate as an independent company under the leadership of CEO Martin Back. The spin-off also includes the 3D printing service provider Sculpteo.

Forward AM Technologies combines BASF’s business for additive manufacturing materials and solutions with a service offering. The company intends to focus on cross-industry partnerships.

The strategic acquisition, which is backed by BASF, aims to optimise customer support and market responsiveness. All solutions and services will be provided as usual to the existing customer base worldwide.

Forward AM Technologies has experienced consistent annual growth of 30% over the last two years. The company retains control of its intellectual property and expects to be able to fulfil future requirements without interruption.

Martin Back, CEO of Forward AM, emphasised the importance of BASF’s support during the management buy-out. He emphasised that the expert team and innovative tools will continue to provide leading AM solutions for the manufacturing industry.
