AML3D improves robotic welding systems into metal 3D printers for the defense industry

3D printing specialist AML3D is converting an AML3D robotic welding system into an advanced ARCEMY metal 3D printing system for Century Engineering, an Australian defense and industrial supplier. The conversion process includes a complete overhaul of the legacy system to install modern wire-arc additive manufacturing components and replace the software systems with the latest ARCEMY software.

The conversion of the Century Engineering robotic system is scheduled to be completed in the next quarter and will include 12 months of software support. Upon completion of this order, another ARCEMY system will be introduced to the Australian market to help Century Engineering meet the needs of their customers in the defense, mining, energy and water industries.

AML3D CEO Sean Ebert said: “Our ability to retrofit an older AML3D, robotic welding system and bring it up to the specifications of a modern ARCEMY Wire-Arc Additive metal 3D printing system is evidence of delivery of our broader strategic objectives. Expanding ARCEMY sales into Defence and industrial markets outside the US is part of our broader strategy to deliver high levels of sustainable growth. Providing ARCEMY system capabilities to Century Engineering, a supplier to the Australian Defence and industrial sectors, allows AML3D to further penetrate this important additional market.

It is pleasing to announce a new Australian ARCEMY order while we are continuing to see huge demand for our ARCEMY systems and manufacturing capabilities in the USA, especially within the US Navy submarine industrial base and prime US Navy suppliers. This Century Engineering order is evidence of our ability to stay focused on our US Scale up strategy and expand into additional markets such as Australia and, in due course, the UK.”

By integrating advanced manufacturing systems, companies like Century Engineering can increase their production capacity and efficiency to meet the growing demands in various industries. The collaboration between AML3D and Century Engineering demonstrates how technological advances can be used to optimize existing systems and increase competitiveness in the global marketplace.
