ABB Robotics presents Ultra Accuracy feature for cobots

ABB Robotics has introduced a new feature called ‘Ultra Accuracy’ for its GoFa cobot series. This technology is designed to increase the accuracy of the collaborative robots by a factor of ten compared to conventional models.

The new feature is aimed at industries that require maximum precision in product manufacturing. Andrea Cassoni, Global Head of Collaborative Robots at ABB Robotics, explains: ‘Ultra Accuracy opens up new possibilities for the use of cobots in the electronics, automotive, aerospace and metalworking industries.’

The improved accuracy makes the GoFa cobots suitable for demanding tasks. These include bonding and sealing applications in electronics production, laser welding of automotive parts and precise laser cutting in metal processing. The technology also offers advantages for additive manufacturing, such as the precise positioning of layers when 3D printing prototypes.

Another advantage is the combination of precision and speed. Calibration takes place at the factory, which minimises set-up time. Together with the RobotStudio software, applications can be programmed offline, achieving a 99 per cent match between simulation and reality.

The Ultra Accuracy function is available both for new GoFa models and as a retrofit option for existing cobots. This enables companies to flexibly upgrade their automation solutions.
