3D Printed Nintendo NES Console Working with Raspberry Pi

Blogger DaftMike has created a 3D printed miniature version of the popular Nintendo Entertainment System from the 80s.

The 3D printable version of the case was scaled down to 40% of the original’s size and holds a Raspberry Pi. It is equipped with USB and network ports on the left as well as power and and HDMI connection on the back of the console. The 3D printed version of the official game cartridges are equipped with NFC (near field communication) tags. Through the NFC reader, the machine recognises which cartridge has been inserted and starts the game from the Raspberry Pi running on RetroPie software.

DaftMike has created the 3D printable designs using 123D Design from Autodesk. For the actual print he used the Montone Mix Pack filament from UK-based manufacturer Faberdashery, as it looked ideal to match the actual grey-shades of the console.
