3D printed model for wallet with unique sliding mechanism

The maker with the username Hugo has created ‘SlideWallet V1’, a wallet model that stands out thanks to its unique sliding mechanism. The design is available free of charge on the Printables platform.

The SlideWallet V1 consists of just three parts that are plugged together without any additional hardware. The key feature is the downward sliding movement of the front, which allows the cards to slide upwards effortlessly.

Precise 3D printers are essential for the successful production of the wallet. Hugo recommends a 0.4 mm print head and a layer height of 0.2 mm. PETG has proven itself as a material due to its gliding properties, although PLA can also be used. Light sanding may be necessary after printing to ensure smooth movement of the components.

Assembly is straightforward: First the base part is placed, then the inner part (the ‘cascade’) is placed on the pivot point and finally the slider is clicked on. The model can be downloaded here at Printables.

Maker Jasonfull has presented a similar model on the Thingiverse modelling platform.
