3D Lab receives patent for new ultrasonic metal atomisation technology

3D Lab, known for its advanced metal atomisation technology, has been granted a patent in the USA for its latest innovation. The patent, which protects the method and apparatus for producing heavy metal powders by ultrasonic atomisation, expands the company’s intellectual property and strengthens its position in the metal powder production sector.

The patented technology forms the basis of the ATO series, a range of ultrasonic metal atomisers that produce high-quality, spherical metal powders. These powders are particularly important for additive manufacturing and other industrial applications where high flowability and low oxygen levels are required. With precise control over particle sizes, the technology delivers consistent, high-quality metal powders for a variety of applications.

The recent patent grant in the US is part of a series of patents that 3D Lab is seeking worldwide. Just recently, the company was also granted a patent in China for a similar metal powder production technology. These advances underscore 3D Lab’s commitment to continually innovate in the metal powder industry and set new standards for the production of reactive and non-reactive powders.

“We are proud to add this USA patent to our rapidly growing portfolio of global intellectual property. Our patented technologies drive our mission to provide advanced and versatile solutions for metal powder production, ensuring superior material quality and accelerate material innovations. This patent is a significant milestone in our journey, reflecting the dedication and innovative spirit of our team”, said Jakub Rozpendowski, CEO of 3D Lab.

The ATO Lab Plus, the latest model in the ATO series, is a modular ultrasonic metal atomiser designed specifically for laboratory scale. The device offers expandable production capacities thanks to interchangeable modules and can also be operated by non-technical personnel thanks to its safety and automation functions. As a result, 3D Lab enables flexible and cost-efficient production of high-quality metal powders, which play a key role in research and industrial processes.
