11th Central German 3D Printing Forum: Innovation exchange and networking in Merseburg

Merseburg University of Applied Sciences will host the 11th Central German Forum 3D Printing in Application on October 16, 2024. This event is an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of additive manufacturing. Thomas Wünsch, State Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, and Prof. Dr. Markus Krabbes, Rector of Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, will welcome the guests.

The forum, which alternates annually between the universities of Merseburg, Mittweida, Jena and Leipzig, is aimed at users, scientists, students and all interested parties. It offers an opportunity to find out about current developments and trends in 3D printing. The potential of this technology in various industries will also be highlighted. A series of lectures and an accompanying company exhibition will present the latest findings and examples of best practice.

This year, the focus will be on several important topics. Quality assurance in 3D printing will be discussed intensively, as it is crucial for the production of reliable and consistent products. Post-processing, i.e. the post-processing of printed parts, and subsequent processes are also key topics. These processes are often necessary to ensure the final quality and functionality of the printed parts.

Another focus is medical technology, where 3D printing has already made considerable progress. From patient-specific implants to surgical tools, this technology enables customized solutions. The use of composite materials in 3D printing will also be discussed, as these materials open up new fields of application thanks to their specific properties.

In addition, polymer-based and metal-based 3D printing, two of the most commonly used methods in additive manufacturing, will be examined. Both techniques offer unique advantages and challenges, which will be highlighted in the presentations and discussions. Finally, the use of 3D printing in architecture and construction will also be addressed, where it enables innovative construction methods and designs.

The 11th Central German 3D Printing Forum is being organized in cooperation with the universities of Mittweida, Leipzig and Jena, the Central German Rapid Prototyping Network (enficos) and Building 3D e.V. Further information on the event and registration is available on the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences website.

This event offers an excellent opportunity to network with leading experts and learn about the latest developments in the field of 3D printing.
